Delicate Renewal

Welcome back!

I took an unintentional hiatus, you know how life goes...so thank you for sticking around.

I'm excited to share with you some of my Spring 2018 Capsule Wardrobe ideas! I have yet to have time to actually get it all together and make my shopping list for the new items I want to add, so I was thinking we could do it together! YEAY! :)

The first thing I do is think about the time frame of the capsule. This year, my spring capsule will run from Feb-April 2018. What a fun time! There's Valentine's Day (hello date night!) and one of my favorite holiday's - St. Patty's Day - so I will definitely be including something green.

After deciding the timeline and getting an idea of what's coming up on the calendar, I select key words to help me direct my choices of textures and fabrics. This may seem silly to some, but it gives me direction for the capsule so I'm not repeating the same things every capsule.

Spring Key Words: Fresh, New, Soft, Delicate, Comfy, Livability, Versatility, Layering, Restore, Revive, Dewy, Transitional.

Don't you just love those!? I absolutely adore 'delicate' (thus the inclusion in the title) but I also think it's important to ponder the meaning of the other words as well...

Here in Arkansas, the weather can turn go from freezing to 75+ degrees within one 24 hour period. Therefore, key words like 'versitility', 'layering' and 'transitional' are important for multiple reasons - functionality and style.

If you haven't noticed already, I'm super into standard colors like gray, white & black. Reason being is they transition very well from one season to the next & never really go out of style. For the spring, I've chosen some pinks, blues & greens to be added to the color scheme to soften my look. Textures are (of course) my favorite thing about fashion. If it's soft - get it in my closet right now. I'll be on the look out for things like a cotton t-shirt dress & maybe a silky romper.

Renewal (def) - the replacing or repair of something that is worn out, run-down or broken.

Capsules can get repetitive and they are a lot of work at first, so its important to keep the element of excitement by introducing new items...a renewal of your closet and a renewal of your mind towards your capsule keeps things fresh.

Don't forget the purpose of capsule wardrobes: discipline & to enjoy life for all it has to offer by focusing on finding joy in the experiences and not spending loads of money in things.
